About the project
Here you can find a toolkit of microfluidic modules for forming and manipulating lipid membrane-based synthetic cells. These modules can be combined in various combinations to produce different analysis pipelines for synthetic cell development studies using our modular soft lithography. For each module, you will find a 2D CAD file in .dwg format which can be used to create masks for 2D photolithography, or you can find print files for the Nanoscribe Professional GT2 two-photon lithography printer.
Example connected pipeline
Below is an example of how individual microfluidic modules can be connected to form a functional pipeline. This example demonstrates the integration of production, manipulation, and analysis modules to perform a complete microfluidic process.

Pipeline components
- Production module: synthetic cell generation by Octanol-assisted Liposome Assembly
- Purification module: purify synthetic cells from unencapsulated components
- Trap module: immobilises the synthetic cells for monitoring over several hours
